Yapnest is provided by Mathilde Gilles. These terms apply when you use the Yapnest app. By using it, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
What Yapnest is
Yapnest is a client for XMPP, an open messaging standard. It lets you sign in to an account on an XMPP server and chat. Yapnest does not host your account or your messages. Your server does.
Accounts on other servers
Your account belongs to the server where you made it. That server has its own rules. Its operator can suspend or delete your account, remove content, or block you. Those rules and decisions are theirs, not ours. You must follow them and these terms.
Acceptable use
We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. Do not use Yapnest to send, share or ask for:
- sexual content involving minors, or any content that exploits or endangers children;
- threats, harassment, bullying, stalking or hate speech;
- content that promotes violence, terrorism or self-harm;
- sexually explicit content sent to people who did not ask for it;
- spam, scams, phishing or malware;
- anything illegal, or that breaks other people’s rights, such as their privacy or copyright;
- impersonation of another person or organisation.
Do not try to break or overload the services you connect to, or to get around anyone’s block.
If you break these rules, expect your content to be removed, your account to be reported to its server’s operator, and the authorities to be told where the law requires it.
Block and report
You can block anyone in the app. A blocked person can no longer reach any of your devices. When you block someone, you can also report them as spam or abuse. If your server takes reports, its operators get the report with the last messages from that person.

Messages can be end-to-end encrypted, so we cannot read them. To report one, pass it on to us or to your server’s operator.
Your content
You are responsible for what you send. You keep your rights to it. Yapnest does not claim any.
No warranty
The app is provided “as is”, without a warranty of any kind, as far as the law allows. We do not promise that it will always work, be free of errors, or deliver every message or notification. Your server, the network and Apple’s services can fail, and we do not control them.
As far as the law allows, we are not liable for loss that comes from your use of the app, from other users’ content, or from third-party servers and services. This does not limit rights that the law gives to consumers and that cannot be waived.
Privacy
The privacy policy says how the app handles data.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. We post the new version here with a new date. If you keep using the app after that, you accept the change.
